I'm all for bringing back the Charleston, flappers, jalopies, moxie and 23 skidoo.

But as someone asked, does this mean a Greater Depression in nine years and a World War ten years after that?

We already had a Great Recession globally. So probably Great Recession II and maybe WWIII?

I enjoy a cocktail or two and I'm currently learning I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate (1922) on banjolele, so it's full on twenties in my kitchen. People are somewhat polarised right now, so WWlll would be a great way to bring us all back together - if there's anybody left that is.

Happy 2020 fellow ducks!! I hope this year is your year!! <3 :)
Anyone have any plans they wanna do this year?
Resolutions or maybe just a trip you're planning?
Maybe something with your comic?

I hope this year I'll finish Scarred Eden's 2nd volume and start the 3rd and I'm attempting to seek a better/healthier lifestyle and just enjoy myself. Also hoping this year I'll finally find a job as a colorist T-T

Spent new years dancing at a gay nightclub with a lady-friend, as you do.
It was ok :)
Walking around the streets the next day watching all the poor drink and drug addled sods trying to get home was pretty amusing though XD

I don't drink much these days, for fear of migraines, so I get to do a lot of observing!

-Nightclubs have never really been my thing, but at least the gay ones tend to have a nicer, less aggressive, more accepting, and more fun vibe.

Obviously I've missed out ! B-) Literally just came from the latest Simply Sarah page on here and that's where they are…
I did used to go to a small, friendly disco/club (I don't even remember the name of), after shift work evenings, with early finishes, before I left Cardiff to come to Qld. Some young guy there had won a dance comp- prize being a flight/accommodation and free week entry into Studio 54,N.Y.(that dates it ) It had all sorts there, but not like the New Moon Club, which was our little city's ‘club weirdo’, including lots of trans folk. I went there twice - already well inebriated, both times. /nostalgia off. B-)

It's only now I realise how lucky I was growing up in a boring midlands town, to have one the the best clubs in the country, The Blue Note. The manager had amazing and diverse taste in music, which meant diverse regulars and the drink/cop off crowd avoided the place like the plague. They had amazing bands from all over the globe too, yet it was tiny!

Sadly it was taken over by some guy determined to turn it into another cattle market, but the manager bought a disused print works down the road and turned it into a similar venue which kept going until after I left town, so we were very spoiled! I never found another place quite like it.

e: Couldn't find too much from the old Blue Note on YouTube, too long ago, but Robert Plant did record a live set of Rock'n'roll tunes there.

I worked nights and weekends so I never went clubbing. Social anxiety didn't help. No one knew about those things back then, so I just thought I avoided crowds because I was shy.

I finally got to go when I was home on crutches after an injury. A few other other times I'd go out for a walk because I couldn't breathe.

Happy New Year! You can still say that up to – how much later? I guess April might be pushing it.

It seems to me I'm in a prolonged state of distraction. We moved out of state and into a house that had been under renovation for 15 months. We've been in for a month and a half, and there's still a lot to do. Like building the garage. All the garage stuff is in our hallway, kitchen, mudroom … I'd stick some of it in closets, except the closets aren't done either.

I've been trying to get the must-do's done. For example, I now have my PA driver's license. But unpacking stuff is very nostalgic business for me. Packing = put it in a box. Unpacking is an unveiling.

So I came here and wanted to say hi to y'all (HI!) but when I hit “Log in” I got a forbidden 403. Initially. The third try did the trick. Thank heavens. My grasp on the present is tenuous, my future unknown; I need my past!

Speaking of past, I don't think I've ever been to a club. More than anything, I think it just seemed very pricey for what I'd be getting, but there's also the nerd factor.

I remember in high school when I went to an “open house” (kids took over a house when the parents were gone). A girl I knew from gym class (years earlier we had both been in a girl scout troop together) spotted me and laughed out loud.

“Gawd! I knew this party was dead, but when Dee shows up . . . oh, GAWD”

She was pretty smashed, but -as you can tell- that scene has replayed in my mind over and over. I could imagine a sequel should I ever go to a club – if they let me in to begin with. So no night clubs for me.

But I do need to join something here. Smiling at strangers in the grocery store isn't cutting it. This is when I realize there's a shyness ingredient added to the mix. Maybe it could become the basis of a new comic: “Joiner,” what happens when a newbie tries to fit in to different groups. Ha!

Whaaaaaaat a bitch O_O

Honestly, clubs aren't my thing either, even going out for a drink at the pub or a bar has never been my thing, buttttt all my friends have always socialised by going to bars so I had to learn to live with it.
As for clubs, the women I tend to date tend to LOVE clubbing and dancing, so I adapt.

I always thought so.

I have nothing against clubbers; seems like they're having a good time without hurting anyone, for the most part.
But me, more often than not I'm sitting at home, soaking up Netflix or Amazon Prime. I figure if I'm ever waylaid in a dark alley, you know, "Give me a synopsis of The Legend of White Snake, or your life," I should be okay.

Well there are good clubs and bad! While I was enjoying the great music and friendly atmosphere at the Blue Note, this video was being filmed two streets away in The Pink Coconut.

Humans are resilient organisms. Doing them harm makes them stronger. It is your duty and your gift as an artist to do as much harm as you possibly can.

I second this. If you're not offending anyone, you're not saying very much at all.

Remember offense is never given. It is only ever taken.

No one can hurt you emotionally if you refuse to accept the hurt intended.

If only someone had told me that fifty years ago. 🙄

We've been over this Tom. Stop doing this to yourself and especially stop posting such self-flagellating and wrong things about you and your art. Seriously, STOP IT. This is the last time I'm allowing a post of yours with content like this. Anywhere I see it I'll be deleting it. It's not good for your psychological state and it's not a nice thing to see.

Post something POSITIVE about your work. I DARE YOU.

I'm sorry you choose to leave rather than allow this community to help you. If you change your mind, I'll be looking forward to your first post that's positive about yourself and your work. See you.

Wassup my fellow Muthaduckers of this year 2020^^

Feel like I'm a bit late to this one, but I've been showing my face (or hand to be more accurate) everywhere else and I thought I might as well pop up here too^^ This might be overly optimistic of me, but I have a feeling that the 2020's gonna be pretty wild(Y) For this new year I've been thinking about catching up to the contemporary arts scene and finally begin mastering digital drawing. If you guys got any thoughtful opinions or any cool advice to share with me on this I welcome it(Y)

Happy 2020 everyone! I think 2020 will be a melodramatic one (at least in the US, what with the election and all.) I hope it will be a good year. This will be the first year when I will have a table at a comic book convention (MOCCA arts festival, NYC)
