Site redesign update, NEWS!
Alexey will now begin to tackle comic page templates, making them conform to the new style. Em has come up with two templates for us to start to work with (compact and standard size). These will be the standard default, unedited templates, but they will also affect user-edited templates in some ways in that the ad positions and menus will be a little different to how they are now. The challenge is to make sure these do not break continuity with current user-customised templates, so we have to be very careful!
Currently these aren't quite right yet but they're a good starting point. You'll notice some missing things: Favourites, Email alerts, Duckmark (Set Go), Recommend this comic, Go to forum“, and the comic rating. Also ”Blog“ should always be ”News". The navigation also wouldn't quite work with user-modified buttons and we'll have to think about how user links go with this, both text and image links.

We'd do it that way to accommodate people who don't know how to resize comic pages to fit normal viewing. But if people really WANT to have a big comic page they can .

Hi Paul. Sorry this is late but I don't always check this stuff. Well probably still do resizing but maybe do it at an even 1000 instead. And then we hopefully want to have some new coding to allow wide images of any size, but you'll have to tick a tick box to have that. You can do like 4000 pixels or more.

Will images wider than 960 pixels still be resized? I'm not planning on doing anything sideways, just asking. Or for that matter, will any of the size limits change?

@J_Scarbrough - the new template will affect the positioning of the page elements (comments, author notes, ads etc), and the header and footers on all pages, but user-customisations will also stay how they are: i.e. custom buttons, inks, titles, text and link formatting, background images and colouring etc.

Just to clarify, those of us who have customized our comics websites will NOT be affected by this new template, correct? I believe it has been said that customized site designs would not be affected by the new site. Granted, I do really like the template, especially with how the comments are more efficiently organized, but again, I just want to make sure that all of the customizations that I have made for VAMPIRE GIRL will remain unaffected.
