*just kidding. women are nice… just have to find the right one* :)

It's really not that hard: usually I find when a guy says he can't find the right woman, it's more to do with his own unreasonable expectations/demands. For instance, imagine a situation where you and your partner are discussing how to decorate a room - she wants lime green, you want olive. Can you believe that there are guys out there who would actually try to find some compromise, midway shade, instead of just painting the room the exact lime green she wanted? And they wonder why they're single?! Unbelievable.

Yay - nobody hates my new Emily England art style! :)

So the art is different how? It still looks great and I don't see any significant difference.

Thanks! Well instead of my usual painted style, I inked the whole thing with a dark colour instead of pure black, then coloured under that in a kind of painty style, adding some tone and shadow, but quickly! There's only a few places where I used an opaque paint layer. I was trying to keep it as close as possible with only a fraction of the time I'd usually take.

I've considering doing something similar, granted my painting pales in comparison to yours but as a way of mixing my line art with digital painting effectively I thought it may be worth a try. I guess it works :)

Yeah- I'm on the list of folks that dig it. Ozone's comment about genital shrivelingly good art is pretty spot on. Like, any given style is going to have strengths and weaknesses over others. I think the biggest thing that jumped out at me is the tonal quality of the colors. In the original approach, it's absolutely phenomenal. With the latest page, the highlights aren't quite as bright and the shadows aren't quite as dark. The linework compensates for most of that by giving that extra bit of visual definition, so the new technique is still balanced- but if you want a little more consistency between the techniques, I'd recommend popping that element just a little more.

Lol. Now I kinda want to go back to art school and slap my teachers for training me to say that. It was always “tonal value this” or “tonal value that.” No wonder I work in high contrast black and white now :p

———————
About 55 pages were roughly scripted by yesterday afternoon. I'm hoping to have most of this book scripted today and start penciling by next week.

I woke up with a hangover. Which is a shame, because I kinda wanted to wake up with a hangover *and* regrets.

Heh, my brother always calls me a Socialite, because I befriend the ‘right people’.
It is true that I got 1million of a game I played just because I said ‘Hi’ to this guy. i always befriend people, somehow.

I JUST GOT OFF WORK.

this is crazy. this is a friday, and i'm on salary, and i demand adequate friday time.

man i'm such a little bish.

which reminds me of what i wanted to rant about this morning.

How seriously the other services take the military, compared to the air force.

I'll go into that later, i'm feeling hyper.

Didn't have time to tell the story earlier but I will now.
One of the exchange students in art class was at the sink next to me and started talking to me. First of all, it took me a while to realize he was talking to me, so I got all embarassed and flustered. After a short conversation(about the ridiculous substitute with the “IN ENGLISH POR FAVOR” ) I went back to work on my fish man and realized my hands were shaking.
Apparently random conversations with new people are scary. This might explain why I have very few friends.

The reason for having friends is so you don't have to keep having random conversations with new people!

Yes, but conversations with new people seems to be necessary to make those friends in the first place. A bit of a dilemma there!

I'm thinking about closing down the TDg forums. No one ever posts, the host site did some update, so you can't click on the name of the thread to get into it. (you have to click on the page number, if there is a page number, if there isn't that thread is lost to history)

sigh, it gave me a new found respect for how the admins around here keep drama from destroying everything here. (especially with the full site updates)

sigh.

That'd be a shame: it was good for posting the kind of thing that wouldn't fit on the DD forums. The only problem then is keeping it user friendly - as I remember it was just the one dodgy character that put me off using it.

BUT, i'm pretty sure (and i may be wrong, haha~ but i'm pretty sure i'm not) that their right arms were all attatched properly and they weren't waiting on a doctor to tell them if they needed surgery or not…butya know…just a wild guess 9_9

Ugh!
I can't watch TV science programs anymore. They're way too stupidly done… So patronising and moronic, with deep voice actors narrating everything as if it was super dramatic, and trying to make footage of someone looking at computer screens exciting. So fricken lame! And the info they actually present to you is stuff you already KNOW about anyway; simple straight forward facts that they talk about as if it's a revelation.
I watched one about lightning last night and just fell asleep.

Surely science themed documentaries were not always this awful?
I remember as a kid that they used to be quite good… Maybe it's my memory playing tricks.

The only decent science programs are on the radio these days.

Exactly!
The stuff they “reveal” are things you heard about in science news reports about 6 years ago.

The least they could do is have a real person hosting them who has a passion and insight into the subject like they do with Attenborough or Dr Robert Winston (although he's a bit of a wanker), instead of just another actor reading from a lame script written by a drama scriptwriter on a slow day… They sound as if they were put together by some nasty small unit of a drama production company who has a limited brief and almost no funds…
They pay a couple of scientists working as university lecturers to plot out some things they should cover as a “for idiots” type of general interest intro thing, then do a few interviews, grab some footage, get the writer and editors to work together on a narrative, cut it together like a music video, pay an actor and slap his or her voice over the top.

Instant crap.

WACOM Tablet's blue ring just started blinking and the stylus became unresponsive mid-drawing of comic pages.
Unplugged and plugged it back into a different USB port, didn't help.
Restarted my computer, that fixed it.

I should have also been asleep 8 hours ago.

Just played another session of Resident Evil 4. Got up to this part with the four cells and a dumpster… with a really creepy bag in it. I know it's just there to creep you out with its wriggling just to make you shoot it (and attract the monster that's in one of the cells ahead), but even with the knowledge that it doesn't do anything but lie there and wriggle it still creeps me out. Quite frankly I think it's the creepiest game creature I've come across (with the monster that's in one of the nearby cells coming a very close second).

Youtube Video: The Sack Monster from Resident Evil 4

Now if only they'd make Resident Evil: Dead Aim for the Wii (because my lightgun controller doesn't work with my HDTV)… :)

Oh dear god, we are now subjected to regular doses of professor Brian Cox who somebody (most probably himself) has declared the sexy physicist and who makes the worst I've ever seen. He roams around exotic locations pouting at the camera and telling us what we already know in the most ridiculously overblown hyperbole - lines even Charlton Heston would've struggled to deliver with a straight face.

Trouble is, when the BBC get a hint someone like this is popular, they put them on everything all the time. I'm terrified that when Patrick Moore finally pegs it, they'll replace him with Cox on The Sky At Night, instead of getting Brian May who would be brilliantly understated and you know he's cut from the same eccentric cloth as Moore 'cos he plays a guitar he made from an old fireplace.

Now you know why I re-watch Cosmos with Carl Sagan. The best guys for me are Michael Dorn (Worf of Star Trek) or Jonathan Frakes. Dorn has great delivery and Frakes is genuinely interested.

You say Brian Cox and my first thought is the Scottish actor and I'm thinking “but he has a great voice for voice over work” (he did the audio novel of the unabridged Silmarillion) and instead it's some particle physicist who looks like a character Eric Idle would have played on Monty Python.

I can usually ignore the voice over and just absorb the information. I start laughing when it's really obvious and stuff I know better than the writers of the piece. I love it when historical documentaries use the wrong stock footage. lol!

Did five pages and started playing with my foam cutter so I can build the sets for the next productions. Like any low budget producer I'm going to build one set and use it for two stories. Good weather is coming up so I can finally start spray painting again as this set's gonna be a big'un and painted this time. Even counter-shaded.

And I installed the new printer so I can start printing the floor panels.
