Not much site update news this week so I thought I'd help promote this two big community projects instead!
Have you heard of the latest DD anthology project? What IS the DD anthology? Well it's a community project that's done to help the site pay for our upgrades! It will feature comics by a whole bunch of DDers (maybe YOU?), all variations on the common theme, which for this one is “Dreams”. DD anthologies go waaaaaay back in time to the very beginning of the site 20 years ago, but it was the team headed by Bluecuts and DameHelsing who revived the tradition and put it to use specifically to try and get the site upgrades kickstarted, which they did with their horror themed anthology.
This time around Genejoke is heading it and they're doing a safe version and a not safe version so that should be interesting!

The DD awards are another great community tradition that have been going on for years and years! For a lot of that time Niccea has been in charge as she is now. This is a comic awards show, like the Oscars, or Golden Globes, but for comics and creators here on DD. Not only can you win awards for your comics, you can get recognised for your contribution to the community, your skills as an artist or writer and many other things. The awards are also an amazing way to get involved in the community, and they can help you raise your profile here and promote your comics too so it's a win win!

Now for site update news-
Things are still on track. Lothar found a bug on the site in the forums, where whoever started a forum thread was able to delete any of the posts within that thread, no matter who posted. Now that's not a major bug but it's not good to have stuff like that around. The only people allowed to delete user posts are the users who MADE the posts or admins (who typically don't unless it's spam). You don't want just anyone messing with your free expression. So you'll be pleased to know Alexey fixed that.

@Lother- no, it'll be replaced by the new site. There shouldn't be sideways scrolling though, we'll have to work on that of it defeats the purpose of the new layout. With the Quail's random he idea is to put that on the search page.

Will there be an option to view the site in classic style? I looked at it on my phone and the new layout had lots of sideways scrolling. I prefer the way it is now, where I don't have to scroll. Also, I like random comics. I think it's something DD has that other comic sites don't: all that webcomic history persevered here. So many interesting Jems from the past. Too bad we can't figure out some way to highlight that. Similar to the featured comics. Something like "Blast from the Past"

@Genejoke That's because older current smaller images are sized up for the new formatting. When the new site is used instead we'll get people to upload bigger images :)

Thanks for the shoutout. I just checked out the test site, is the image quality because it's a test site? There seems to be a loss of sharpness to the images.
