Can you believe we've been going THIS long and we're STILL around? It still surprises me. Things have tried to kill us but nothing's worked yet. We predate all the current social medial. We saw MySpace come and go, we saw Facebook rise from nothing, we saw YouTube wink into existence and the birth of the Tube sites… The whole streaming thing is just a recent blink to us.
There's no update this week on the site redesign progress so I thought I'd reminisce instead. What are your fondest memories from the site history?
I have many. The Top Drawer was a fun part of the forums back in the day. It had been the home of trashy threads that didn't fit anywhere else so it wasn't worth having a moderator looking after it because there were no topics to stick to. A bunch of members discovered that weird loophole and started playing around in there. We had fantastic games. We created artwork and comics based on the dumb stuff we got up to. We teased each other and had all sorts of rivalries which made us more creative.
It couldn't last though… Some antisocial people had to test the limits and take things too far. They also re-posted stuff from the then burgeoning Fourchan, some of it quite bad. The place that was fun precisely because it was completely un-moderated then desperately required moderation, this killed the vibe. It had been fun while it lasted. There's a lesson in that!
Another great memory is when I came to the USA. This was back in the Wowio days and they were doing well. They had a huge launch party on board a yacht at San Diego Comic Con 2010. I got to meet many Drunk Duckers in person and it was a super amazing experience. It was so good I came back the next year in 2011 and met a few more ducklings. I've met more over the years since and I'm still friends with them. In fact meeting Tantz Aerine in Greece and then going back again to meet Tantz AND Pitface was awesome too.
Comic-wise, I've been very happy to be posting Pinky TA on DD all these years and working on Bottomless Waitress together with Banes.

Congratulations! You have made history. One of the only webcomic hosts that has managed to even exist this long, and that's an accomplishment. I do love this site and the community. Here's to more years of great creativity and elevating the medium of sequential art even further.

Happy 21st birthday, DrunkDuck!! 🍻 Similar to Casscade, I'm really glad I took the time to research the best webcomic sites, which was how I found this. The thing that has shocked and baffled me the most is the age of this site and how it predates a lot of social media platforms. I can honestly say that being on here for just a few months has been so much better than years of being on Instagram or the year spent on DeviantArt or even *shudders* TikTok. All of those platforms don't even come close and cannot hold a candle compared to the community I have been graced with here. The algorithm is amazing, the people here are amazing, the comics as well as the variety thereof are mind blowing! I've highly enjoyed posting on here and also interacting with a lot of the forums/community posts. How I wish I found this site earlier during my middle/high school years!

Wow! 21 years! Happy b-day DD! 🥳 I'm glad I listened to that little voice in the back of my head pressuring me to join when I checked out the site for the first time. XD It's been a real rewarding experience being here and I can't wait to see where the site goes in the future!

I miss Heroes Alliance and Crossoverkill. Love those and all the spin-offs from the HU/HA Universe. Right now I’m one of those spin offs still running with SolarCell and the Last Daughter of Gluttony. Trying to bring back Peligroso crossover series which also takes place on the HA/HA Universe. Kind of wondering if I should just continue HA/HU stuff on Genejoke’s Lite Bites. But I have not thought on how to approach him on how to submit HA/HA content for his channel. Anyways, other moments I loved was talking to other artist on collaborations like Secret Santa (which is still going on), and a dead forum of HA. It was a great motivation to draw stuff and think about stories together.

As I've said on the forum a time or two before, after Kyo gave me the banhammer from ComicFury, DD was the only other option I considered coming to and hosting VAMPIRE GIRL on, simply because I knew you guys had longevity and a long-standing reputation as a webcomics host, and I'm so glad I did - I've long gotten over my CF ban, and the DD community has been so good to me, I'm really glad to be a part of it! Happy birthday, dear Duckie, and cheers, everyone! 🥂🍻 Drunk Duck was my very first encounter with the world of webcomics way back in 2006 or something, and all the fun stuff here eventually made me de-mothball my drawing gear and let the tiger out of his cage (among other things). Took me some time, as I used to be too cheap to get an internet connection of my own - in those days, it was still possible to live without one for long spells. Ol' Duckie played a decisive role in changing my mind about that. @Oz: Typing the last few sentences just made me realise how right you are! Now I kind of feel like my own granddad (may he rest in peace) talking about how Betamax recorders were a real quantum leap from Super 8, damn it!

Found memories indeed! Like the first great reset of 2003... Or was it 2004? When all the comics got deleted for not updating within the allotted time. I enjoyed hanging around the " debate" forum and arguing about politics back when that was a thing. I liked when we had more customizable pages, kinda like myspace. There was a certain tag you could put in your pages code that referenced whoever was looking at your page. You could make it look like they had commented on your page. That really cheesed some people.DD has been fun over the years: a solid 6 out of 5. Now that the duck is old enough to drink I purpose he revert to being drunk again
