Welcome to…
The DD Fashion Spotlight!
Number 27.

John Henry Hunter is a terrible dastardly villain in a very classic sense… he's handsome, has a great goatee, fierce eyebrows, a marvelous figure with a powerful chest, and most importantly for this article: he dresses with style and care. He even wears gloves! His clothes are seriously good. As a child I always admired the well dressed villains. John is a fantastic exemplar of this trope!

John

Like any really well dressed villain John has a penchant for frock coats with a tapered waste and a stylish flare bellow, these show off his impressively wide shoulders and muscular build while also giving him a swooshy tail of fabric to swing dramatically! This is a Western themed comic so he's dressed in the style of the American 1880s (roughly) and really dressed to perfection, although his trousers might be a little low for that time. John would be the envy of any gambler or railroad tycoon!

Eliza And Veronique

This is mainly about the gorgeous villain attire of John but we can't let things go without showing these great outfits on the ladies, Eliza and Veronique Dauterive. These beautiful stylised late 19th century dresses are delicious. Stripes were very popular at the time but they can be very tiring to draw, especially in multiple panels, so kudos to Emehlos for that! Eliza in blue wears a very historical, traditionally styled outfit, Veronique in crimson is the more dominant character, her dress is slightly more anachronistic with its sensual flourish of the mesh boob window, but not as much as you might think actually! These are two exceptional outfits that require heavily structured undergarments to achieve those characteristic shapes.
In the modern imagination this makes them torturous and difficult while in reality the opposite is mostly true- the structure supplies body support while freeing women from the tyranny of having to maintain a perfect figure to look good in a style of clothes because the clothes do that for you.

Very! Plus John is one of the few webcomic villains that has multiple outfits and is also even shown having one made for him! 😯
