Nope, they found him this afternoon.

I was really hoping it was a scam of some sort. I mean… he bought the plane /that morning./ Friends of his just HAPPENED to be crossing the bridge when it happened and seem to be the only witnesses who are talking to the police about what they saw. I was hoping he was in south america already and his wife and kids would discreetly be joining him after everything died down.

I guess I just watch too much 20/20.

Yeah, that's really sad… poor family…

I've always been scared of planes for these reasons.
I'm going to Spain this year… and on a plane.

I've spent a great deal of times on aircraft these last 7 years, and it's not so bad. granted, i absolutely hate flying commercial. scares the bajeezus out of me. just cause. not cause it's not safe.

I find this depressing… that someone who dedicated himself to make life better for everyone else loses his own. I bet he must've been one fantastic doctor. Makes me want to talk to my niece about things like this. She's preparing for college to become a nurse.

Maybe it was a fake body? Here's hoping. :(
I don't like small civilian aeroplanes… seems they're always crashing and killing people.
Logic says that it's more likely to be pilot error because mostly those craft are not flown by professional pilots, but they're still scary nonetheless.

I have no fear in commercial aeroplanes. -Anyway, If they fail what can you do? Enjoy the fall.
I can't help but be fatalistic in situations where it's pretty much impossible to have any control over particular outcomes.
——————–

It's STILL meltingly hot here! >_<

I had a nice surprise at work though this morning- my ceiling was fully restored with nice, gleaming, new panels. Finally the old stains from the last big weird rainstorm flood when the rain started poring through everywhere, over a year ago are no longer there.
I'd still Ike another freak rainstorm though. I'd happily give up my nice white ceiling for one.

My desk is all moved back now, looking bigger than ever! I took the move as an excuse to get rid of some more old clutter.
Everyone else's desks are covered in paper, files and in-boxes stacked to the ceiling! I have the biggest desk out of everyone and nothing but my monitors and pens on it- and my always empty in-basket: Purely because 100% of my work is on the computer and I like to have all the free desk space I can get incase I need it for a particular job (reference book space, if I need to sketch a product etc). And I keep my in-basket empty because I like to have work done before quitting time.

-The way I think about desks these days is that they're work surfaces. That space is there so you can use it for a project. After you're done working on it you clear the space for the next project! Desks (for me) aren't shelves for stacking old stuff on. That's what shelves are for.

I try to do that and fail, mostly due to insufficient shelf and storage space. need to sort that but I'm too lazy most of the time.

No sin in that!
Keeping space clear is pretty easy once it IS clear, but GETTING it clear to start with is HARD (filing stuff and then having a system where suff gets filed or somehing rather than desk sitting). And once stuff does get left on your desk and you don't shove it, pretty soon it becomes permanent and multiplies.

I wouldn't say freezing… no I wouldn- yes. Yes, it is.
I would love to swap teparatures, if only I had my own private swimming pool and it wasn't a school day.
When it's cold, we wish it's hot and when it's hot we want cold. Brits always want it hot though. They'll take of their shirts and flop on a sunbed if a cloud moves.

That is so true. However, given the choice, I'm sure most people would prefer heat to cold. I know I would.

I've always hated a messy desk with lots of stuff on it. I bought two big plain desks at IKEA and made an L shape with them for my office so I would have plenty of space, even after the docked laptop and monitor and speakers and printer and shelf thingy so I can put stuff above where I put the laptop.

I still have a 4-tray inboxy thing I put notebooks, dvds and stationary in that I'd like to relocate off, but I still need to keep them near to hand and I don't have bookshelf space and don't want to put up shelves and the under-desk space is full. It keeps me up at night, I have nowhere to move it. I think about it.

I've read some articles today about working standing up instead of sitting down and how it's so much better for you. I'm thinking about giving it a try and I'm trying to figure out the easiest/fastest/cheapest way to set up a higher desktop surface to try it out. (if the cords will even reach, some are at their limit I think)

Well, seeing that February is over, time for a little monthly summary.

17 pages were pencilled
16 pages were inked (including one page pencilled in January)
15 pages were colored (all of which were inked January)
31 pages were completed (15 for color comics and 16 for b/w ones)

This gives me a total of 54 pages completed this year and a total of 282 since 2008.
This also gives me 9 short comics completed this year.

Overall, not a bad result, although I've been kinda limping along the last two weeks (the mighty creative fire from the “christmas break” burned out and now I'm just pushing this with a page or two of pencils/inks a day at most).

So, I didn't fix my best friend's relationship with his ex by any means… but I spent 3 hours talking to her yesterday, then three hours talking to him. By the time I was done talkingng to him, she'd digested things enough that she called him up and had the courage to tell him the things she'd told me. They're still in a trial separation, but they've patched up the biggest parts. Worst case scenario is still probably being amiable to each other.

I just won an incredible auction. I'm half feeling bad for how little I paid and half on the verge of tears with how happy I am.

Pretty much the only reason I won because it wasn't ebay. :/ Seriously if that auction was on their the bid would have been 10x more.

Oh god this must be what crack feels like

Don't worry, I'll have to start a new day job soon which means I'll start lagging behind (as long as I beat 2008's 129 pages it'll be a good year result!)

Speaking of fixing relationships, a funny story…

Few years ago we tried to start a band. A girl from Germany on guitar/vocals, a guy from Netherlands on bass and me on “electronics”. So anyway, at some point we met in Netherlands (another long story in itself) and the girl said “no relationships between us three, ok? it'll ruin the band”. Well, few months later of the same year, the two of them have a huuuuuuuuge argument. Result, he's all miserable and she's all pissed off.
I step in, talk to one, talk to the other, try to reconcile things and finally get them to talk to each other. they work the stuff out… AND FALL FOR EACH OTHER, heh!
Needless to say she was right, that did ruin the band idea (that and the distance, how would we practice? haha)

While not that bad I have been slacking off from gaming, except this last week when I got back into playing Halo reach online. It's been annoying me tonight, I haven't won a single match, or even got in the top three on the board for that matter.

I just lost my job, more or less.

A while before I was hired, our store was robbed. The girl there was working the closing shift alone at the time. Since then we've had two people on staff during closing shifts. Today they decided it hasn't been busy enough in the evenings, so we're not allowed to have two people on closing any more.
I'm just not willing to work there on my own at night. We're right by a liquor mart and in a relatively quiet area. We don't have a silent alarm or anything. I think it's dangerous.
We have five people who work in our store. I'll be the third to quit. The other part-time girl will quit as soon as she finds something else.

Oh, and fun fact: the girl who was robbed(quite scarily, with a knife to her throat) was still working there until today. And she told them straight out that she would quit the minute they took away the second person on close.

Why are the people on top always such fucking morons?

It's all about the money, if they get robbed they can claim insurance. If they pay two people they have to make up the shortfall. I used to manage a large store and the company directors were asshats. Always trying to force us into doing illegal stuff to save money but doing it so if there was any fallout the store managers took the hit. I asked why once and was told…
“Shit rolls downhill.”

Wow, four pages pencilled yesterday… buuut, they were mostly easy! The thing I'm doing now has a lot of repeated panels so that takesout some of the work (just write in pencil “paste panel X from page Y here” haha) plus two of them were actually these crazy weirdo page things so no need to rule out backgrounds or any of that. Plus I had a “zoom out from the pupil” page so most of the panels on this one will be black.

So yeah, actually more like 2 pages of work, heh.

Today two more to go, then I need to layout the next short comic.
